"Redis is an open source, BSD licensed, advanced key-value store. It is often referred to as a data structure server, since keys can contain strings, hashes, lists, sets, and stored sets." -

Redis is one of the fastest NoSQL database platforms out there, and one of the fastest growing. It has more advanced data structures than other in-memory cache systems, and can serve data faster than most relational databases.

At this meetup event, we will take the first steps to mastering Redis! You will get to see how easy it is to get started using Redis with little or no ramp-up time. We will first go over some basic concepts, such as Redis' built-in data types and how to interact with them. Then we will jump right into a live demonstration! We will start with a fresh Linux virtual machine, download Redis, install it, get it configured, start it up, and jump right into creating and retrieving data. This will be a loose, open presentation, so people can ask questions as we go.

Whether you are a seasoned database professional who wants to learn more about NoSQL databases, or if you are a newbie just getting their feet wet with databases in general, this is an awesome event you won't want to miss!

6:30pm - Registration / sign-in
