What we're about

ODSC brings together the open-source and data science communities with the goal of helping its members learn, connect and grow.

The focus of this Meetup group is to allow ODSC to work with Meetup groups, non-profits, and other organizations to present informative lectures, workshops, code sprints and networking events to help grow the use of open source languages and tools within the data science and data-centric community. As such, our specific goals are:

1. Build a collaborative group to work with other Meetup groups, non-profits, and other organizations.

2. Promote the use of open source languages and tools amongst data scientists and others.

3. Host educational workshops.

4. Spread awareness of new open source languages and tools that can be used in data science.

5. Contribute back to the open-source community.

Who is this meetup for?

• Data engineers, analysts, scientists, and other practitioners

• R, Python and other software engineers who work with data or want to learn

• Data visualization developers and designers

• Non-technical team leads, executives, and other decision-makers from data-centric startups and large companies looking to utilize open-source tools

ML simplified: from ideation to deployment in minutes with automated ML

To access this webinar, please register here: https://aiplus.odsc.com/courses/machine-learning-simplified-from-ideation-to-deployment-in-minutes-with-automated-machine-learning Topic: ML simplified: from ideation to deployment in minutes with automated ML Speaker#1: Aniththa Umamahesan, Program Manager at Microsoft https://www.linkedin.com/in/aniththa/ She is a Program Manager on Microsoft Azure Machine Learning team. Her latest mission is accelerating and democratizing Artificial Intelligence via Automated Machine Learning. Speaker#2: Nikolay Rovinskiy, Software Engineer at Microsoft https://www.linkedin.com/in/nikolay-r-632559158/ He is a Software Developer in the AutoML team. His primary focus is forecasting. The developer of computational biology software with experience in industrial and academic settings, the creator of established software for DNA manipulation and growth curve analysis downloaded 1,833 and 172 times respectively. Abstract: Automated ML is an emerging field in Machine Learning that helps developers and new data scientists with little data science knowledge build Machine Learning models and solutions without understanding the complexity of Learning Algorithm selection, and Hyperparameter tuning. With Azure Machine Learning's automated machine learning capability, given a dataset and a few configuration parameters, you will get a trained high-quality Machine Learning model for the dataset that you can use for Predictions. In this session, you will learn how to use Automated ML for productivity gains, empowering domain experts to build ML-based solutions and scale to build several models with Azure Machine Learning's automated ML. LIVE TRAINING: Gradient Boosting for Prediction and Inference

This is a PAID event. Registration is required: https://aiplus.odsc.com/courses/gradient-boosting-for-prediction-and-inference Instructor's bio: Brian Lucena PhD is Principal at Numeristatistical and the creator of StructureBoost, ML-Insights and SplinCalib. His mission is to enhance of understanding and application of modern machine learning and statistical techniques. Abstract: This is an intensive course focused on using Gradient Boosting for classification and regression problems. This is a hands-on workshop with real data sets, where the participants will gain valuable experience training, evaluating, and drawing conclusions from Gradient Boosting models. At the end of the course, participants will feel confident that they understand all details and parameters behind Gradient Boosting, and be able to present, criticize, and defend the models they create. By the end of the course, participants will be able to: - Explain how Gradient Boosting methods work as an ensemble of decision trees - Understand the various details and choices available for Gradient Boosting models - Know the various Gradient Boosting packages and the capabilities, strengths, and weaknesses of each - Know how to approach a data set, build a simple model, and then improve it - Know how to experiment with the parameters and use grid-search in a principled way - Know how to evaluate, interpret, calibrate, and explain your model to a lay audience Who will be interested in this course? This course is geared to data scientists of all levels who wish to gain a deep understanding of Gradient Boosting and how to apply it to real-world situations. The ideal participant will have some experience with building models. Which knowledge and skills you should have? You should know the Python data science toolkit (numpy, pandas, scikit-learn, matplotlib) and have experience fitting models on training sets, making predictions on test sets, and evaluating the quality of the model with metrics. What is included in your ticket? 1. Access to the live training and a QA session with the Instructor 2. Access to the on-demand recording 3. Certificate of completion Use discount code - Meetup2020 - to get an extra 10% off on your pass for Virtual Conference West.
