Abstract: Redesigning cities to make them smarter, means bringing together diverse efforts and knowledge, bridging distances and joining forces, in order to overcome challenges and improve citizens lives. Guimarães intends to present itself with pioneering and innovative solutions, positioning itself as a living laboratory of international reference, in providing solutions to urban problems and ideas to respond to the challenges of the future.
Ricardo Costa: Councilor of Municipality of Guimarães. Areas of responsibility: Finance, Public Procurement (Goods and Services Acquisition), Financing, Heritage and Information Systems. BA in Philosophy and Enterprise Development at the Catholic University. Postgraduate in Finance and Taxation (Faculty of Economics, University of Porto). MBA (Master Business Administration) in General Management Companies (EUDEM - School of Spanish Business). Was manager at Banco BPI, having previously played roles in the Portuguese Business Bank, Banco Internacional de Crédito and Banco Espírito Santo, having joined the Millenium BCP 20 years. Is Chairman of the Board of Taipas Turitermas, President of the Social Center Padre Manuel Joaquim Sousa - IPSS and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of CART.
Ricardo Machado: Head of Intelligent Systems Development Division. With a degree in Electronics and Computer Management from Lusiada North University. Post-Graduation in Computer Networks from Polytechnic Institute of Management and Technology (ISLA). Post-Graduation in Management at Lusiada North University. Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Lusiada North University with specialization in Innovation, Internationalization and Smart Growth. With an active role in areas of Smart Cities and Intelligent Systems as well as Artificial Intelligence
João Rodrigues: received his M.Sc. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Porto, Portugal, in 2009, and since then is a researcher at Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT) in Porto.
He is pursuing a Ph.D. degree at the same institution, and the main topics of his thesis are data gathering and mining in intelligent transportation systems.
His general interests are crowdsensing, localization and machine learning.
