Subject of Discussion: The Nature of God, the Nature of Humankind
When using the word “God,” one may not mean the authoritarian Being described by Mormonism or traditional Christianity. Not a cosmic judge, a heavenly monarch, or an omnipotent record-keeper watching one’s every move.
Instead, one could mean the divine spark within human beings—the capacity for love, truth, integrity, compassion, and the ability to seek what is life-giving, wholesome, and good. This “God” spoken of is not a person in the sky, but the deeper moral sense inside us all. To search for God, in my view, is to search for that which is real, noble, and beneficial to life itself.
