Plotly is sponsoring a special evening event for the Dayton Data Visualization Group! Come enjoy pizza and learn about Plotly - an online analytics and data visualization tool.
Chris Parmer - Plotly's Chief Product Officer will be giving an overview & technical how-to of Plotly. Plotly provides online graphing, analytics and stats tools for individuals and collaboration, as well as scientific graphing libraries for Python, R, MATLAB, Node.js, Julia, Arduino and REST. Users are also able to upload data directly into Plotly's web application, upload files like Excel or extract from databases like MySQL. Plotly can also be used to style interactive graphs with IPython and has figure converters for ggplot2 and matplotlib. Users are able to graph their data into high-quality, interactive online graphs that can then be edited and shared (e.g. like a Google Doc), allowing users of different programs to easily collaborate on graphs and their underlying data. Developers are also able to use Plotly to create dashboards and metrics reports that can be shared across an organization. A free online version of Plotly is available for public use and has over 140,000 users. An enterprise version will also briefly be discussed that allows organizations to keep all of their data private. This version is used by places such as Google, Cal State & Goji.
