Our Beagle Meetup's mission is to bring together beagles and beagle owners for regular play dates in the metro DC area. There are many opportunities to meet, whether it's at a local dog park, a play group organized by a doggie day care facility, or events hosted by local beagle rescues including BREW (www.brewbeagles.org) and BRSM (www.beaglemaryland.org). There are lots of beagles in the DC area and this is our chance to get the hounds together!
To become a member:
you must be the proud parent of a beagle or a beagle mix (non-aggressive only) living in the DC metro area
your beagle/beagle mix must be up to date on their rabies vaccination, with current tags visible on their collar (some indoor venues may require additional vaccinations)
your beagle/beagle mix is not required to be neutered or spayed but beagles in heat are not allowed at events (some indoor venues may require your beagle to be neutered or spayed)
Events managed by group organizers Alexis & Chris are primarily scheduled in Alexandria and Arlington. However, we have members all over the DC metro area. Members are encouraged to be an Event Host by hosting an event in your area. So, go ahead and suggest an event and host one! We want to make the events convenient for everyone. You're probably not the only one who wants beagle meetups in your area!
Just remember that we need your help to spread the word and get more members in your area. Post our flyers in your neighborhood dog parks and vet offices, advertise on Craigslist, post it on Facebook - do your part to get more members in your area.
Come socialize your beagles with other beagles and meet other beagle owners. We meet in several different areas in the DC metro area, most often inside the beltway. We ask members to contribute to the fees that Meetup.com charges us to maintain the DC Beagles website. The fee is small, $5 per member/family - a one time fee.
Members must be an owner of a beagle or beagle mix living in the DC metro area. Non-aggressive beagles only. Please read and become familiar with our Doggie Ground Rules prior to requesting membership.
If you wish to adopt a beagle or beagle mix, please contact BREW, BRSM, Petfinder.com or your local animal shelter (see list). There are lots of beagles and beagle mixes in need of homes, even puppies! Please be leery of breeders advertising beagles for sale on the internet(Craigslist, Facebook, any website!)or in pet stores. These beagles do not come from reputable breeders and you end up supporting backyard breeders or a puppy mill. Reputable breedersdo not advertise on websites or sell their dogs in pet stores! If you must purchase from a breeder, the AKC offers a list of questions to ask a breeder to make sure you are dealing with a respectable one.
