The DC Capital Striders Running Group began in Spring 2006. The group's primary purpose and vision is to allow runners of all endurance levels, paces, distances and months or years of running experience to run together in a non-competitive atmosphere and to get to know each other through a variety of social activities.
Runs are scheduled all throughout the week as well as weekends at various locations (both morning and evening) throughout the metropolitan Washington DC, Maryland and Northern Virginia region. Each run is open to any runner regardless of experience. It is highly suggested that you review the description of the run and determine whether or not it is right for you. Each run leader/organizer is experienced with the courses and can alter the course pending who is out there and what each runner is interested in. If you wish to join a run, please state in your RSVP the distance and pace that you project you might be interested in. This will allow the organizer to get feedback from the interested runners.
Many of the runs are located near metro stations to allow for easier access to the start locations. Some runs have vehicles available to store personal gear (work clothes, other items) but this is not always the case. If you wish to store personal gear, please state this in your RSVP as well; but be cautious cause vehicles may not always be available.
We do not skimp when it comes to benefits for our paid members. We offer discounts with many local and national running related companies, nutritional products, fitness studios, races. But the greatest benefit received by our members is meeting other people who share your passion and energy for running, walking or other exercise activities, which usually leads to life-long friendships.
You do not have to be a member to join us for a run, all are welcome. However, there are a lot more benefits to being a member!
Come out, enjoy yourself, make new friends and get in great shape while exploring the sites around town!!
*Disclaimer* - Please know and be aware of your own fitness level and take care of your health. This is a fun group and a good way to socialize with friends, but safety comes first. If you come out for a group run or any other event - please be responsible for yourself, hydrate and stop if you feel shortness of breath, faint or dizzy. Myself and any other group leaders are not accountable for any injuries that may occur during a run.
