The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks

Finally!  We've laid our eager hands on one of the most popular books in a long time.  The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot has boasted a very large, long-running hold list at Durham County Library.  Our club bagged the Book Club Kit for this title, so we have plenty of copies.

As for the book itself, I'll shamelessly quote the paperback cover blurb: "Doctors took her cells without asking.  Those cells never died.  They launched a medical revolution and a multimillion-dollar industry.  More than twenty years later, her children found out.  Their lives would never be the same."

Would you like me to bring a baked something? I am known for my brownies and shortbread. I look forward to meeting all of you.
