Thor's Day - Patapsco Lite

All the fun with half the calories.  A relatively informal romp from Rockburn Branch Park into Morning Choice Trail in Patapsco...and possibly beyond...  Slower than your average intermediate ride but more technically demanding than your average beginner ride, the vibe here will be pretty casual.  Wanna go fast?  Wrong ride.  Want to work on some logovers?  Bingo.  We'll do around 50 of them.

Ride Leader: Brian

Number: (seven-o-tree...tree-too-tree...for-for-o-fife)

Please call me or post here if you suddenly can't make it or are running a few minutes late. Try to be ready to ride on time (good idea to get there 15 minutes early). If you've never been here, it's a good idea to get here even earlier so you're not late and stressed out.  We will try to accommodate everyone, but will leave the lot promptly 15 minutes after the listed time.

This will be a relatively easy average pace with some technical terrain. Realistically evaluate your fitness and skill level.  We'll regroup at key spots and will break as needed.  Though this is a no-drop ride, be realistic, as there are some technical, rocky spots and lots of logs and roots.

Voluntary drop policy (borrowed from MORE):  This is a no-drop ride, and we’ll actively make sure to keep the group together, but you may get the stink-eye from the group if you are having recurring mechanicals or that all-you-can-eat Indian buffet is slowing you down.  Please be considerate that, for most of us, this is our only opportunity to get in a mid-week trail ride and we’d like to make the most of it before the sun goes down.

Directions: Follow the above address.  Upon entering the park, go to the end of the cul-de-sac and park.  That's where we hit it.

What to bring:

Helmet (no helmet, no ride)

Mountain Bike (hybrid bikes are usually sketchy on trails)

Water

Snack (salty will help avoid cramps)

Multi-Tool (although you can borrow one)

Patch Kit

Extra Tube

Note: Please read the document "Meetup Ride Waiver" (found under menu: More > Files > Meetup Ride Waiver) before attending this event. Mountain biking is an inherently dangerous sport, and by attending this ride, you acknowledge and have read, agree to and fully understand the aforementioned waiver.

That was a great ride. Nice video. Crazy amount of log hoppin'. NACHO was a trip. I'll take the same line for the stream crossing...cool and refreshing!

    Hey guys...

I made a little video documenting nearly every log we hopped. Enjoy!

Thanks for sharing another awesome video! That's a lot of logs! You would think with all that practice, I would be better at them. Oh, and I don't think I'll take that line across that section of stream again...

Hey Brian I felt so bad for not going and tell you at the very last minute. Things gone wrong around here. I'm happy you had a great time. Hope to see you next time! Have a good weekend

We're going to need to be aware of pace today since we're losing daylight pretty rapidly at the moment. Be ready!
