This is the co-ed "safer soccer" weekend game in Kensington, MD. We use a special adult foam ball which reduces pain and tau; it makes the game much more fun overall, but is slightly harder to dribble in hot weather. Older players tend to take longer to get adjusted to the lighter ball. This game is reffed with pinnies.
To reduce injuries, we use an injury-based foul system, so using your hand to protect yourself from getting hit by the ball is not usually a foul. Also, getting a yellow card will award 1/2 point to the other team. However, unlike normal fouls, the team getting a yellow card will be kicking off (as if a normal goal were scored by the injured player). Note: strong kicks of balls to anyone's head ("face kicks") are yellow-card fouls.
RSVPs are required. To avoid having your RSVP removed 2 hours before the game, all players must either (1) have a picture of their face and use their real first and last names or (2) have paid $20/year via the donate button to the left.
