Pick-up Intermediate Volleyball @ Crystal City

Sunday indoor pick-up volleyball opportunity for intermediate volleyball players.  We have the gym from 2PM to 4PM going forward, with a seperate meet-up for Beginner and Competitive players (check DC Social Meet-up Page for details). Players can arrive starting at 2, and we will form teams and start playing games at 2:15. Why suffer the heat/cold/rain when you can play inside?

Future meet-ups will require at least 10 RSVPs by Friday 5PM or our group leaders may cancel this Meetup. We will cap the number of players at 15, with priority given first to those who show up by 2:15 and are reserved on Meetup followed by those on the Meetup waitlist.

If you have questions regarding whether you qualify as an Intermediate or Beginner player, please reach out to the organizer in advance so we can put you at the appropriate skill level.

Games will be played at Crystal Gateway Sport&Health Club located at 1235 S. Clark Street. The gym is 5 blocks north of the Crystal City metro station. Free parking is also available in the underground garage. In general, the gym stays open regardless of inclement weather.

The cost will be $10 per player for approximately 2 hours of open play. Please bring cash and pay at the volleyball court (Not at the front desk for the gym). Games organized by league veterans.

Sorry, not going to be able to make it after all. I'm probably more of a competitive player.

Hey guys, please try to correctly assess your skills, as to whether you are truly an intermediate or a beginner & RSVP accordingly. This will make for two GREAT meetups (beg & inter), where people are about at the same skill level!

Ill try explaining again for you karl as you asked the question. You can pass, set, and hit with some consistency. At a minimum, players at this level should have progressed beyond Recreational (beginner) and are more consistent with their basic skills. Players can direct and control the ball more consistently and are aware and capable of passing, setting and spiking and attempt to play 3 hit volleyball at all times. This event is for players who have previous experience playing and understand rules and all basic skills. Executing basic skills may be at times inconsistent but the effort to improve and play 3 hit volleyball is there. If the effort to play 3 hit volleyball is not there you should play Recreational

If you choose a level too high or too low you and other participants will end up disappointed

This session is full while the recreational one only has 6 players. Maybe folks who are on the fence between beginner/intermediate could come to the beginner session and then league organizers/veterans could make recommendations about who would fit better at the intermediate level.

Beginners need to moved to beginners meet-up. If not makes for very frustrating play when the ball lands in front of you and you can't return, pass the ball, set or hit with few errors. Also can cause people to get hurt.

Very much wanting to play (low-intermediate lvl player) but just found this group. Do I need to get a membership to the Sport Club to get in on this?
