Meetup ideas, please help!

  • Needs a date

  • Needs a location

  • Anyone with other ideas, throw 'em in the pot. We'll make some soup yet
1.Watching a movie at someone's house/potluck/hotpot (lot's of fun and cheaper than going out)
2.Having a bbq, getting too cold now unfortunately
3.Going to a Vietnamese mass or temple (just for the food afterwards)
4.Meeting up to play Viet poker (tien len) or chess (co tuong)
5.Shooting pool. We call it bida (BeeYah). They play 3 ball carom over in the old country though
6.Hooking up with other groups to increase the body count for meetups. For example 20s and 30s Asian group (every 6th person is Viet), restaurant meetups such as Paul's Thai food meetup, and cooking club meetups (we could teach others how to make Viet food at home)
    7.Viet literature discussion
    8.Karaoke night
9.Language Xchange via Skype with Viet students over in VN.
10.Hanging out with Vietnamese embassy folks. Regular stupid Viet-Americans hate them. They're nice but very lonely. They're just paper-pushers doing their jobs just like you and me!

Hong- a lot of us hate old folks that blame communists for everything- especially their own personal shortcomings and lack of leadership and care for Vietnam. They're a big reason things are so messed up over there now.Us younger folks have to step up.Now's the time.

I like the idea of having dinner parties at home, hot pot, pot luck, or korean grill. I have a karaoke machine at home too! If any movies is available on Netflix, I could get it too! Those Vietnamese embassy folks, I am interested in hanging out with them and show them around if they dont have any friends ...
