Worum es bei uns geht

Want to discuss recent innovations and research in Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning? Are you a computational linguist, part of the R&D team at your company, or experimenting with a new deep learning architecture? Are you submitting a paper to NIPS or EMNLP? If the answer to any of these questions is 'yes', you should join this Meetup group!

Organized by the AI team at Mya Systems, this Meetup group is looking to bring together people testing and iterating novel approaches for potential applications in Artificial Intelligence. Come network, listen to what folks are working on, and learn from interactive sessions with experts in NLP & ML.

Natural Language Processing for Wolfram|Alpha & Wolfram Language (E. Bernard)

Etienne Bernard of Wolfram Research will lead a talk on some of the NLP tools and applications used to develop Wolfram|Alpha (wolframalpha.com). Food and drinks will be provided when the doors open at 6:30PM, doors close at 7:00PM sharp, and the talk begins at 7:00PM. No attendees will be able to enter the building after 7:00PM, so arrive early! Interested in presenting your work at a future Bay Area Research in NLP and ML Meetup? Abstract of talk: NLP is an important part of Wolfram Research activities, we use it to develop Wolfram|Alpha (wolframalpha.com), and to develop functionalities for the Wolfram Language (a.k.a. Mathematica, wolfram.com/language/). In this talk I will present some of the NLP tools and applications we developed, and in particular automatic machine learning functions, an original neural network framework, and a named-entity recognizer able to identify hundreds of entity types. I will give an overview of these tools, demonstrate their capabilities, and talk about the scientific and technical solutions used under the hood. -- About Etienne Bernard Etienne Bernard has been leading the Machine Learning group at Wolfram Research for the last 5 years. At Wolfram, he worked on developing automatic machine learning tools, a neural network framework, and machine learning applications for the Wolfram Language and Wolfram|Alpha. Before entering the machine learning field, Etienne obtained a PhD in physics from ENS Paris and worked as a postdoctoral scholar at MIT, where he designed Markov chain Monte Carlo algorithms to solve physics problems. -- About this Meetup group: Organized by the AI team at Mya Systems, this Meetup group is looking to bring together people testing and iterating novel approaches for potential applications in Artificial Intelligence.
