This is a group for everyone interested in serious meditation. We will get together to practice The Four Elements meditation, a Buddhist meditation technique very accessible to everyone. It is still practiced in monasteries in Myanmar (Burma) - one of the last places on earth where the 2500 year-old teachings of the Buddha have been kept intact and taught by monks who are actually practicing them.
The purpose of this practice is to see Materiality (Rupa) as it really is, a continuous impermanent flow of the four elements- earth, water, fire, air. Through momentary concentration (being in the present moment, in your body), it is possible to experience the characteristics of the elements in the body.
Knowing the true nature of our body, one can develop understanding of the imbalances in the body, which are producing various ailments. The benefit of this meditation is that it can help us reduce, and even completely eliminate, physical pain, by re-establishing a balance of the elements.
