Welcome to a meetup where we discuss mental health and what technology can do in that space with startups in e-mental health, people with mental health difficulties, doctors, and you - the digital health community.

We will be talking about how technology can support people with mental health difficulties - what low-level support and self-help can do, as well as how diagnosis and therapy can be supported by technology.

The meetup will be in German.

Mark Goering, Moodpath

Mark Goering (born 87 in Chicago, IL) holds a Masers degree in Psychology. He worked in several Berlin based startups in HR & Recruiting, before working as a psychotherapist at the Institute für Behavioral Therapy (IVB) and a psychiatric clinic in Berlin. By co-founding Aurora Health, he merged his two passions: Startups and Clinical Psychology.

Aurora Health is a Berlin-based technology company providing digital solutions to improve the detection and treatment of mental health. The company’s solutions are Moodpath, a consumer-friendly mobile depression screening and improvement program, and Aurora, the underlying platform to support healthcare practitioners in diagnostic, therapeutic and administrative processes.

Nora Blum, Selfapy

Katrin Bermbach, Farina Schurzfeld und Nora Blum. Together, it is our goal to change the mental health care system so that all people suffering from psychological disorders get help in time.

Selfapy offers online therapy courses against psychological disorders to make fast and affordable care accessible to everyone. Courses are effective at treating symptoms by combining technology with elements of traditional care.

Benjamin Vahle, Bluebird Technologies

Mithilfe neuester Technologie skalierbaren sozialen Mehrwert schaffen – dafür brennt Benjamin Vahle. Zwar hat er Management in Deutschland, den USA und Kanada studiert, doch eigentlich interessiert er sich viel mehr für Informatik, Physik und Psychologie. Gut dass er bei Blue Bird Technologies seine Leidenschaft, seine Interessen und sein Können kombinieren kann, um Menschen mit psychischen Erkrankungen ein besseres Leben zu ermöglichen.

Blue Bird entwickelt einen App-basierten Therapieassistenten, der Menschen mit psychischen Erkrankungen im Alltag hilft, ihre Symptome zu managen und Krisen zu verhindern. Der Fokus liegt hierbei auf der Unterstützung von Menschen mit chronischen Erkrankungen, die langfristig Unterstützung benötigen.

Nadine Bittner, Aslan& and TelePsy

Nadine Bittner ist klinische Psychologin und hat als Head of Therapy für das E-Mental-Health Start-Up humly gearbeitet. Derzeit baut sie als Business Development Managerin das Deutschlandgeschäft für das E-Health Unternehmen TelePsy Deutschland auf, ist Gründerin des Sozialunternehmens Aslan& und Stipendiatin des Startery-Programms des Social Impact Labs und SAP.

Aslan& supports you in times of crisis – through trustworthy peers who have gone through similar struggles and can share their experiences with you.

TelePsy wurde 2010 in Kooperation mit verschiedenen Hausärzten, Psychotherapeuten und Psychiatern in den Niederlanden gegründet. Das Ziel ist, die Gesundheitsfürsorge mit Hilfe von digitalen Instrumenten besser und effizienter zu machen. Dieser Ansatz wird auch als Blended Care bezeichnet und meint die Integration digitaler Inhalte in die konventionelle Psychotherapie.

Vivian Otto, Jourvie

Vivian Otto holds a MSc in Business and supports Jourvie in the fields of operations and business development. Having previously gained experience in optical hardware and business software, she now combines her passion for health with past experience.

Jourvie strives to facilitate the everyday life of patients suffering from eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia and binge eating. It complements traditional therapeutic approaches and was developed along the guidelines of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Eating disorders aren't simply a reluctance towards food but psychosomatic illnesses with high comorbidities with depressions and anxiety disorders. With the Jourvie app, patients can easily and discreetly record meals, emotions and obtain support as well as motivation through coping strategies between therapy sessions.

Dr. rer. nat. David Daniel Ebert, Leiter Arbeitseinheit E-Mental Health, Lehrstuhl für Klinische Psychologie und Psychotherapie, Friedrich-Alexander Universität Erlangen Nürnberg

Dr. David Daniel Ebert´s work focuses on the development and evaluation of internet and mobile-based behavioral health technology interventions. He is President elect of the International Society for Research on Internet Interventions, co-founded the GET.ON Institute for health trainings online, a start-up which aims to transfer evidence-based eMental Health Intervention in routine mental health care. He received his PhD with special honors (summa cum laude) and was trained from the Philipp’s-University of Marburg, Germany, the Free University Amsterdam and Harvard University Boston. He was formerly head of the division for Health Trainings Online at the Leuphana University Lueneburg, Germany, leads now the E-Mental Health unit at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg and is scientific advisor of many national and international companies, such as Lantern Inc.

Gerrit Brand

Gerrit Brand ist Arzt in einer Klinik für Psychiatrie, Psychotherapie/-somatik u. Suchtmedizin der GLG. Vor seiner Rückkehr in die klinische Medizin hat er für viele Jahre in der Pharmazeutischen Industrie und Biotechnologie in Deutschland, Kanada und den USA gearbeitet und war Co-Founder eines Biotechnologie-Startups in Research Triangle Park und Santa Monica, CA. Gerrit hat der Charité in Berlin promoviert.
