Welcome, Denver Cinephiles!
Denver Cinema Club is a social group for people who love independent, foreign, and classic films. We see two or three films a week, usually at the "artsy" theaters in central Denver: the Mayan, Chez Artiste, Esquire, and Sie FilmCenter. After watching a film, we usually go to a nearby restaurant to have a drink, chat about the movie, and socialize. It's a diverse, friendly group, and everyone is welcome.
In addition to our regular outings, we also attend special events: film festivals, trivia contests, Oscar parties, free screenings, etc. Watch your Meetup calendar for these, too.
We encourage group participation: we invite members to organize events of their own, and we have a Facebook page for any film-related topics you care to bring up.

The People's Joker, a parody of the Todd Phillips movie, was a favorite at the 2023 Denver Film Festival. Christy says it's "100% guaranteed to become a late night cult classic." How can you resist that? Join us!
- Read Denver Film's description of the movie
- Watch the trailer
- See the movie's page on Rotten Tomatoes
We'll meet at 6:30 for the 6:45 screening. After you buy your ticket, look for me in the theater lounge; I will have a small Denver Cinema Club sign on the table. Tickets are $5 for Denver Film members and $12 for non-members.
After the screening we'll gather again in the lounge, then walk over to Bruz Off Fax to have a beer (or a root beer) and chat about the film.
For those driving, there's a parking garage behind the theater, accessible from the alley. Parking is free if you bring your ticket into the theater for validation.
See you at the Sie!

- VardaVision #7: The Gleaners and I at the SieSie FilmCenter, Denver, CO
The Sie FilmCenter has a very exciting program beginning in March, and we hope you'll join us to bask in this stimulating exploration of the films of the great Agnès Varda, one of the most influential filmmakers of the 20th century and a giant of the French New Wave.
The Sie has programmed eight essential and representative films this spring, all to be introduced by Film and Media Lecturer Howie Movshovitz. The seventh screening will be The Gleaners and I, my favorite Varda film. Read a great piece on The Gleaners and I and other films by Varda.
I will be at a table in the theater lounge at 6:15 with a Denver Cinema Club sign. The film program (and introduction by Movshovitz) starts at 6:30. After the film, we will gather again in the lobby to regroup, then walk to Bruz off Fax for beverages and discussion. Join us!
Buy tickets ($5 for members, $12 for non-members)
See all films in the series and dates (approximately one per week). We plan to have a meetup event for each one, so watch out for those.

When martial arts superstar Bruce Lee died in 1973, the world went into shock. A hero to many, he broke down international barriers and became an icon. So, what happens when an actor and artist at the height of their career is no longer able to fill the vast demand for his talents? In the ‘70s and ‘80s, an entire subgenre dedicated to filling that void was born.
