6:45 – 7:30 pm: Procedural Content Generation in Unity (Aaron Chapin, Goodgame Studios)
Procedural Content Generation (PCG) is a technique used to solve game development problems with algorithms, instead of having a designer make everything by hand. Some people think they can just throw a random number generator in the middle of a project and hope for something fun to pop out, but this is a recipe for disaster! There are many ways to implement these techniques in Unity to save development time and add fun to a game. We will go through a few concrete examples and provide a brief overview of other helpful uses for PCG.
