The digital age has rewritten the role of journalism, as our thirst for fast, engaging news and information increases. There’s been a rise of the citizen journalist, and new technologies that put us in the moment. As a result, there’s more demand for not only broadcasters but also businesses to generate high quality digital stories quickly and consistently in order to build and retain their audience.
At our Munich Pre-Work Talk on August 18, we’ll hear from Mario Haim (http://www.en.ls1.ifkw.uni-muenchen.de/staff/team/haim_mario/index.html) from LMU Munich (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München), whose work focuses on algorithmic influences on both journalism and society. He’ll tell us about LMU’s automated journalism research and how readers perceive and respond to news stories generated by computers.
We also have the pleasure of welcoming Pia Maria Lexa from Media Lab Bayern (http://medialab-bayern.de/), who’ll share insights into the latest trends and innovations in digital journalism that are set to radically change the news of the future.
