• LS Lab Berlin September · Embrace Diversity

Let's embrace diversity! This LS Lab Berlin sheds a light on the many ways Liberating Structures help to re-arrange the way we relate to one another - at work, in the groups we're part of and even among friends and families. We'll embrace our diverse practices and simultaneously explore how we can invite diversity in and make more productive use of it. Our design string of liberating structures caters for sharing and caring. We will have a curious look at our practice and tap the wisdom of the crowd to use diversity more productively: -Impromptu Networking -Wise Crowds -15 % Solutions Join us for a fun evening at The Dive Hive. • LS Lab Berlin August 2019: Special Edition *LS in Development*

    ThoughtWorks Berlin Deutschland GmbH

***SPECIAL EVENT ALERT *** Keith McCandless, one of the co-creators or Liberating Structures is in Berlin! ******************************** Join us for what looks to be a great evening! We will explore some of the principles behind liberating structures while playing with a Liberating Structure 'in development', one that is not fully included into the repertoire because it still needs field testing. We will do a few 'riffs', playing with three different versions, while we work on some challenges that the community presents. This is a great way to really see and experience that LS is not just a 'tool for facilitation', but that it elevates human interaction and brings in the collective intelligence of a group. And you'll get to meet Keith, one of the 'hearts & minds' behind these amazing human design patterns. Maybe YOU have a challenge you want help with? Come play and explore while Keith shares some background, and we experiment and test 'Talking with Pixies'! Looking forward to seeing all of you, the design team Anja, Keith, Martin, Sylvia, & Tas _______________________________________________________________________ We start the event promptly at 19:00, but doors open at 18:30 so you can get yourself settled and ready to play. We end at 21:00 with some informal networking until 21:30. There will be light snacks & drinks provided. IMPORTANT TO KNOW This is a place to experiment and play. We make mistakes, and we learn. This is not a workshop to teach how to use Liberating Structures, but a place for us to all to practice and learn. *You do not have to know what Liberating Structures are all about*, only have curiosity and be open to learning. • LS - Working together on complex problems for non-profit and social purpose orgs

Please join us to explore how individuals and groups can collectively explore and progress complex challenges in the not for profit / social purpose sector. This is a special event with Keith McCandless, co-developer of Liberating Structures. You will have opportunities to get help on a chronic challenge you face. Leaders working in the sector and maestros with skills in applying Liberating Structures [LS] to complex challenges will be in the mix. You will experience how LS can quickly foster lively participation in groups of any size, and generate innovation and great results. LS is particularly good at including and unleashing more people in shaping next steps and the future. Read more here: http://www.liberatingstructures.com/ Expect to be surprised! Bring colleagues who are struggling with similar problems. Come and share your experience, insights, challenges, and imagination as we work together to help everyone make progress. A sample set of themes include: - How is it that we are always and never the same in how we make a difference? - How is it that our work is highly valued with enduring commitments from volunteers, while not assigning a monetary value or rewarding follow-through? - How is it that we are keeping a healthy balance of fundraising work and ensuring we pursue the work that serves our purpose and the deeper social needs? - How is it that we are using “global” evidence-based practice while relying on “local” practice-based evidence making? If you would like to be a part of the design team, and collaborate with Tas, Keith and others from the Berlin LS community, please contact Tas by email: [masked] We intend to design a string of LS with a foundation of an LS in development, Caravan. • LS Lab Berlin June 2019: Ownership! How do we get people to 'Just Do It'?

    Native Instruments Holding GmbH

Our theme: Ownership! We've been on both sides haven't we? Been 'given' ownership, but not really (so why not?!), and have wanted others to 'take' ownership, and they didn't (so why not?!). It's a challenge worthy of our last User Group Meeting (June/July 2019) for the summer! **August 2019 will be a special User Group meet-up with one of the LS creators and co-founders, Keith McCandless, joining us from the US!** Our design string of liberating structures will facilitate exploration and discovery. We will explore what ownership means, and hear how others define 'ownership', and maybe we will see what ownership can look like when it's really given/taken. We want to explore what it looks like when it's NOT given too! Our 'string': -Mad Tea Party -Appreciative Interviews -Troika Consulting Join us for a fun (and probably hot!) evening at Native Instruments. • LS Lab Berlin 3.9 - Building a shared vision, together!

    Zattoo Deutschland GmbH

We will explore building a shared vision for the Berlin LS Lab community - together! We will explore what happens when you have lots of different stakeholders, trying to surface everyone’s needs as well as how we might come to consensus on a vision that engages the whole community! Also, based on feedback from the April LS Lab last month, there is a lot of interest in the principles of Liberating Structures which are baked into the DNA of each structure. So we thought it would be fun to explore one more deeply throughout the evening in the debrief of each structure: Amplifying Freedom and Responsibility. In this LS Lab we will use the string below: 1,2,4,All and Spiral Journalling Conversation Cafe What, So What, Now What? Drawing Together We are looking forward to seeing you! • LS Lab Berlin 3.6 - How to practice self-care and avoid burnout during change

Change is everywhere, at work and in our personal lives. Sometimes we choose to make a change, sometimes it happens to us, and we might have no say in it! But experiencing change always takes energy and can easily cause burnout if we don’t practice self-care. You might be a person leading a change, such as a restructure or transformation at work, or renovating or building a house. Perhaps you’re experiencing a change in your personal relationships, for example a new family member has arrived, or your relationship status update is “it’s complicated.” Maybe you are changing your job, or changing your career! Sometimes we get worn down over time. Change doesn’t always happen as a big bang, constant change can also erode our source of energy. In this Liberating Structures Lab we will use the string below to help everyone explore and share ideas on how to practice self-care and avoid burnout during times of change. Impromptu Networking TRIZ Spiral Journalling MinSpecs We're looking forward to seeing you! In the next lab we'd like to explore how we can do effective planning with a diverse group. It's a new year and the perfect time of year to make plans. Maybe it's your team preparing for Q1, or your family wanting to plan all the vacations for the year, or maybe it's your community wanting to plan the next 6 months of meet-ups. ;-) Together we will use a string to explore how we plan when there are different levels of involvement and experience in the room. How do we understand what people need and then try to deliver what's possible to achieve our goals? How do we help people feel included and get the right level of buy-in from the people who are stakeholders?
