HOW DID WE START: We were looking for a Catholic young adults prayer group in Munich, much like those we were involved in, in London. "We found many in Munich but none of these were in English, so it was difficult to join in with the prayers, singing the hymns and communicating with other members." - Paula
....and so, through prayer and seeking a like-minded community, Little Flock - Young Catholic Adults prayer group began.
Perhaps you have been looking for a English speaking catholic young adults prayer group too? You've come to the right place....read on...
INTENTION: This group is for 20-40 year old english-speaking Catholics to gather in contemplative and charasmatic prayer and worship: for growth and fellowship, in unity with Christ and in line with the teachings of the Catholic Church.
The group is primarily led by Paula. Questions and enquiries could be directed to her.
NAME: The name is inspired by the Bible verse about a Little Flock
“Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom." Luke 12:32
MEETINGS: Meetings are displayed through the meet-up events. Currently this is based in a local english speaking central-Munich Parish church. Although meetings are currently facilitated at the church building, we work independently of the Parish/Church community. Please keep a look out for our meetings on the meet-up events page.
- a young adult between the ages of 20-40 years old.
- comfortable with praying/singing in English.
- a fully practicing Catholic who believes in all the doctrine of the church, wishing to deepen their relationship with Christ, hopeful of being part of a young adult community, open to full participation with the group.
- we also welcome those who are not Catholic, who wish to be part of the community, so long as the individuals respect our prayers, teachings and customs.
This group is probably not for you if you are: ...
While we would love to welcome everyone, it is not possible to support people in all stages of their faith journey, therefore the group would NOT be suitable for those who are:
- NOT between the ages 20-40 (this is a guideline age group, however, if you are 40 and above we could make a more suitable recommendation. If you are under the age of 20 we would recommend you join your local university or college group/ school or parish young people and teens group since the content will be more relevant to your age or situation)
- NOT comfortable praying/singing in English
- NOT comfortable with our Catholic practices/teachings of the Catholic Church.
If you feel this group is for you, pray about it and then request to join. You will then need to fill the request form out as thoroughly and carefully as you can answering all the questions... theres no right or wrong but this helps us to know where you are on your faith journey and how off course to know you better. Your information is not shared with anyone and is kept confidential!
Lastly, please read the mandatory section below. This is for your own guidance and safety.
Please note that while we would love to welcome everyone however we have to set some boundaries. In any case, if you are in doubt, need guidance or support please contact us and we would be happy to confidentially direct you accordingly.
We encouraging everyones faith to grow and for everyone to participate in their "local" catholic community. This might be where your live or work, at your school, university or local Parish. With this in mind, if you are a university student, we would firstly encourage you to join and participate at the catholic group at your university. You are an important member there and this should be your first group to search out and join. If your unsure about where your 'local' group meets, please contact us so we can help you.
There are many who are from another faith and seeking to 'learn' more about the Catholic faith or who are questioning or considering leaving the Catholic church. We are not setup for this kind of support, while you are welcome to join meet-ups and Stay and Prayer, you are firstly encouraged to seek a spiritual director who can help you journey and answer your questions. If you feel this is where you are in your faith journey we would highly recommend you contact us or we can put you in touch with a Spiritual Director, where you can speak in confidence, join an RCIA course and/r Catechism courses too. They would be more helpful in supporting you in your current situation, so don't be shy - please ask. Off course you are always welcome to join us too, but additional support is essential too!
This 20-40 age group is usually about the time when one is seeking a vocation in life. This may be to a religious order, single lay or marriage. You are encouraged to seek your vocation, and help and direction can we provided if you wish, however, this group is not a testing pool to see if you are called to married vocation by seeking a potential spouse within the group. If this is your intention or if any unwelcome behaviour is perceived you will be asked to leave and barred from the group. This is not a 'dating' community.
Lastly, we do not welcome anyone who wishes to disrupt or challenge the group or setup it in anyway.
The above is for the manageable protection and safety of those within the group. As with all correspondence on public 'media', use your careful discretion as to whom you give your personal details to - even within the group - this is at your own discretion.
