Meet other local fans of jazz, blues, and world music while enjoying live performances by top-notch musicians.
The San Francisco Bay Area is home to an amazing live music scene, with an assortment of venues that provide an intimate and affordable way to experience music as it's meant to be: spontaneous, inventive, and alive.
There's so much music happening in the Bay Area, there is something available every weekend for every taste and budget.
So join us, and use this Meetup group to connect with other music fans. We're mainly about listening to live jazz, but we also post blues shows, as well as tango, flamenco, world music, and cross-genre. In addition, we occasionally post theater events and films that have a music-related plotline or other "hook."
If you know about a show you'd like to see listed, feel free to suggest the event to Meetup organizers for hosting, or you can post the show on the "Discussions" page and invite your fellow Meetup members to attend with you.
Hope to see you at an upcoming show!

Alles ansehen- Javier Navarrette’s Latin Jazz TrioEl Cerrito Natural Grocery - Prepared Food Annex, El Cerrito, CA
A live jazz show in a natural foods grocery? Sure, why not?? :)
This concert, part of an ongoing Wednesday night music series (with proceeds going to local musicians and a childhood musical education program), features Marco Diaz on piano and trumpet; Anthony Blea on violin and percussion; and Javier Navarrette on percussion and vocals. The show starts at 6:00 p.m. (and could go as late as 8:30 p.m.), but organizers recommend we get there at 5:30 p.m. to get seats (and if anyone wants to order food).
COST: This is officially billed as a free event. However, I think attendees should plan on donating at least $10 each. Bring cash to do so. (Also, I welcome $1.00 donations to offset the $180.00 per year that Meetup charges me as lead organizer.)
SEATING: General admission. No tickets. First-come, first-served seating. (There also should be room for dancing.)
HOW TO FIND ME: I'm WF, 5 feet tall, with short salt-and-pepper hair and glasses. I'll send my mobile number to whoever doesn't have it already. PLEASE TEXT ME IF YOU DON'T SPOT ME.
TRANSIT: The Natural Food Company's Annex is located at 10387 San Pablo Ave. in El Cerrito, about a four-block walk from El Cerrito PLAZA BART station.
MORE INFORMATION from the venue and the series organizer:
The Natural Grocery Company is proud to present this series in partnership with SunJams and Javier Navarrette Music Productions.
SunJams is committed to funding children’s music education in underserved public elementary schools. Your donation will help support this ongoing program.
All of the proceeds will go directly to our network of local musicians, each of whom have been severely impacted by the lack of events during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Whether you donate $10, $100, or $1000 – any amount helps and will allow us to keep bringing music to our community! As always, your donation to SunJams 501(c)3 may qualify as tax exempt.

- FREE event -->> Women in Jazz & World Music Graduation ConcertCommunity Music Center, San Francisco, CA
Women in Jazz and World Music (WJWM) is a free concert / recital led by Dee Spencer on keyboards with Jewell McMillon on bass, Jay Hernandez on drums and Michelle Jacques as Mistress of Choirs.
The occasion is the graduating event for Dee’s students from the second Women in Jazz & World Music vocal training course. The vocalists will give their renditions of classic songs originally covered by the likes of Ma Rainey, Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone.
NOTE: This event will apparently be a mix of singing and historical remarks from guest lecturers. On the Event page itself, it's described as lasting 90 minutes without an intermission, but on the Ticket page, it's listed as being one hour long -- so I've compromised and listed it as 75 minutes long (LOL), at least until I can possibly get more info.
The event itself is free, but I ask attendees for a $1.00 donation to offset the $180.00 per year that Meetup charges me as head organizer.

OPTIONAL PRE-SHOW DINNER at 5:30 p.m. at Base Camp, a nearby Nepalese restaurant.
NOTE: I usually limit dinners to six Meetup members without a history of no-shows or late cancellations. Once the dinner headcount is finalized, I'll expand the RSVP list (as needed) for the concert only. https://basecampsf.com/
