Tharpaland offers a variety of meditations and teachings on how the ancient wisdom of Buddha can be applied today in this modern troubled world. All our classes include a simple meditation to calm our mind, followed by a teaching and a meditation to get a personal experience of the topic. Everyone can attend our classes, independent of age or religion, the International Retreat Center is open to anyone.
You do not need to bring anything, you can sit either on a chair or on a meditation cushion on the floor. After the class, people sit together with tea and snacks to discuss the meditation subject or just to hang out together - it is a very informal and warm hearted atmosphere.

Learn meditation techniques that will relax, refresh and re-energise you, as well as equip you to deal more effectively with the everyday stresses and challenges of modern day living. This retreat takes place in the beautiful surroundings of Schloss Sommerswalde, just 30 km north of Berlin. Dress comfortably. Cushions and chairs are available. No previous experience is necessary to enjoy this fully guided retreat ~ everyone is welcome!

The purpose of meditation is to cultivate those states of mind that are conducive to peace and well-being. Meditation is all about the question, where can happiness be found? Happiness is a state of mind, therefore the real source of happiness lies in the mind, not in external circumstances.
If our mind is pure and peaceful we will be happy, regardless of our external conditions, but if it is impure and unpeaceful, we will never find happiness, no matter how much we try to change our external conditions.
The method to make our mind pure and peaceful is to train in meditation.
