Livestream: (:HandsOnSession)-[:TO]->(:QueryGraphs)-[:USING]->(:CypherQueries

This event will be Livestreamed here: https://livestream.com/metis/events/8740244 "There is a difference between knowing the path and walking the path." - Cypher from the movie “The Matrix”. Or, more succinctly, “I want to learn the basics of querying a label property graph database using my own keyboard.” This meetup is going to be a little different from most meetups with part of the session being a hands-on DIY session using the Cypher query language. Traversing graph data is all about understanding how graphs can be structured, and consequently how to write graph queries. This is no different than knowing RDBMS concepts and SQL to query relational data. The session will introduce the label property graph model, followed by learning to write basic Cypher to create and query data in a Neo4j graph database. Attendees will need access to a web browser that can access the meetup space’s, or their own wifi, and be comfortable using a web interface to type Cypher commands (similar to typing SQL queries). BIO: Dan is a Chicago based field engineer & architect with an extensive experience in all things data who is currently working for Neo4j. Dan has worked with clients to envision and successfully implement solutions in the Hadoop, NoSQL, Machine Learning, OLAP, BI, and Massively Parallel Database technology realms. The cumulation of all this experience led Dan to the realization that real value from data is driven by understanding the patterns of connections between data, not just the data as islands of hard-structured connected tables. This epiphany became a reality when he was fortunate enough to work with the innovators of graph database technology by becoming part of the Neo4j family. Dan has a BS in Computer Science from Purdue University, West Lafayette, a MBA from the University of San Francisco, and a MS in Predictive Analytics from Northwestern University. ***THE METIS DEMYSTIFYING DATA SCIENCE CONFERENCE IS BACK!*** Join the world's largest FREE, 2-day, live online data science conference! Livestream: Intro to GitHub

Benötigt einen Veranstaltungsort

This event will be Livestreamed here: https://livestream.com/accounts/23925505/events/8752703 ABSTRACT Bring your laptop and get ready to dive into version control, particularly Git and GitHub! This hands-on tutorial is intended for those unfamiliar with any of Git, GitHub, or version control systems in general. We’ll start with a bit of history and theory of different version control systems, but the bulk of the evening will be spent on working through examples from your own machine. We’ll cover the command line from scratch, no prior experience necessary. We’ll start with common command line tasks (I’ll be using a Mac, though you can mostly follow along on Windows). Then we’ll dive into how Git works and work through some local examples. Finally, we’ll add GitHub, which is a web-based hosting platform for Git that also includes other functionality to make working with teams even easier. We’ll cover repositories, forking, and branching, and talk about what some typical GitHub-based workflows might look like in practice. Come ready to learn! SCHEDULE 6 - 6:30pm: Networking and getting set up 6:30 - 7:30pm: Hands-on lecture on GitHub and version control 7:30pm - 8pm: Questions, networking and wrap-up Lara Kattan is constantly awe struck by how math and statistical models can so reasonably approximate the messy real world, and loves to share her passion for the theory. Lara comes to Metis from McKinsey, where she worked with financial institutions on risk modeling. Prior to settling into the practical world of consulting, Lara received a master's from the University of Chicago, where she had the privilege of thinking about problems with no real-world implications. There her passion for unstructured thinking and novel problem solving were nurtured and she took the lessons learned with her into conference rooms and PowerPoint decks. The statistical and mathematical elegance of data science are what animate her the most, but she gets her biggest joy from demystifying the rigorous mathematics for all audiences. If forced to snap out of her mathematical reveries, she's probably doing yoga, riding a bike, or drinking too much coffee. ***THE METIS DEMYSTIFYING DATA SCIENCE CONFERENCE IS BACK!*** For the third year in a row, Metis is hosting Demystifying Data Science: A FREE, 2-day, Live Online Conference! Livestream: Deploying Deep Learning Models/Web Microservice w/ Open Source Tools

This is a Livestreamed event: https://livestream.com/accounts/23925505/events/8729875 Items to have: Laptop Powering your application with deep learning is no walk in the park, but is certainly attainable with some tricks and good practice. Serving a deep learning model on a production system demands the model to be stable, reproducible, capable of isolation and to be behave as a stand-alone package. One possible solution to this is a containerized microservice. Ideally, serving deep learning microservices should be quick and efficient, without having to dive deep into the underlying algorithms and their implementation. Too good to be true? Not anymore! Together, we will demystify the process of developing, training, and deploying deep learning models as a web microservice using Model Asset Exchange, an open source framework developed in Python at the IBM Center for Open Source Data and AI Technologies (CODAIT). We will kick off with an overview of how deep learning models are best published as Docker Images on DockerHub, and are best prepared for deployment in local or cloud environments using Kubernetes or Docker. We highlight the following benefits of such an approach: Standardized REST API implementation and application-friendly output format (JSON) Abstracting out the complex pre and post processing portions of the model inputs and outputs. We will walk you through some super cool applications such as automatic image cropping, age estimation from videos/webcam and Veremin - a video theremin. All these applications and the framework itself are open source and we conclude by inviting contributions and opening the gates for you to be a part of this amazing initiative! ***THE METIS DEMYSTIFYING DATA SCIENCE CONFERENCE IS BACK!*** For the third year in a row, Metis is hosting Demystifying Data Science: A FREE, 2-day, Live Online Conference!
