Our initiative targets experts from the refugee community - particularly of the conflict areas in the Middle East - to conceptualize visions for the rebuilding of their home countries. We believe that despite the bleak political and humanitarian situation in war-torn countries such as Syria or Iraq, there is a need to create spaces for hope and a better future.
Our Meetup will bring together displaced academics and professionals to link knowledge, share experiences, and develop scenarios for a sustainable reconstruction of these countries. The Post-conflict Sustainability Labs are based on an idea of the University of Lund, Sweden, to which we stay in close contact (http://www.iiiee.lu.se/event/design-workshop-for-post-con...).
For launching a first kick-off workshop in Berlin, we need a critical mass of participants. Please spread the word among the refugee community in Berlin. We’re looking for experts from different disciplines: urban planners, environmental scientists, sociologists, architects, energy/water experts, agriculture specialists, and so on.
