• Weird & profound conversations with strangers

    — If you were a mosquito, who would you bite? Where? Why? — Which of your memories do you consider to be the most precious? Why? — You wake up and there's an enormous chicken-shaped balloon floating in your bedroom. How do you deal with this? Questions are powerful. And let's face it, we're tired of asking the same old things: what do you do, where do you come from. We've answered those questions so many times that it feels like reading a school essay — but not for long. The Berlin cardgame Jojojo is coming to Dublin — and we're organising this weird and profound gathering to host you there! All the game's questions have been crowdsourced (yeah!), so we're also taking suggestions for a possible expansion. =) Please invite your weirdest and deepest friends! Hope to see you there, - - - Where? Attention: Berlin members, this is a special Dublin meetup! The Dtwo Bar was kind enough to lend us their space. Address: 60 Harcourt St, Saint Kevin's Just ask for the jojojo table when you get there. - - - When? 19:00 — Doors open 19:30 — We start playing 22:30 — Perhaps time to go (let's see) If you can't be there at the start, worry not! You can join at any point. - - - More info on the game: http://www.jojojo.cards

  • A (very personal) open storytelling evening

    Keith Bar

Once a month we host an experiment on human connection and ask ourselves the question: what if we communicated differently? If you're interested in who people really are — not what they're supposed to say or do, but who they are deep inside, welcome home! - - - This month's experiment: Bring a piece of you We’re all interested in who you are. But which part of you? Perhaps your name is very common, perhaps your hometown is just here. Yet we all know you’ve lived dramatic experiences! You’ve changed and evolved to the point that your younger self could barely recognise you. This is what shines in people’s life journeys: transformation! This month’s challenge is simple — bring an object that’s part of a transformation story you lived. A series of events that really impacted your current self. We’re going to show those objects and share those stories. Perhaps we will find ourselves in each other’s tales. If you’re not a skilled storyteller, you’re still more than welcome to join!!! Please don’t be shy — we need to open up a bit if we really want to connect. If you feel you need some guidance, we’re interested in: what happened, why it happened, how did you feel in each step of the way at the time and how do you feel about it now. We’re also interested in why you chose this object and this story and not any other one. It would be cool if you could bring a story that took a couple of minutes to tell — we're interested in deep tales! Bring your wildest memories for a drink! The order of storytellers is going to be decided randomly (probably names in a hat). You might show up just to listen, but it would make me really happy if you’d also be willing to share. Last month we had such a great time! Looking forward to see you again. Cheers and see you there! - - - 19:30 Open doors 20:00 We start the experiment +- 22:00 Experiment officially over, but hey we're still around

  • Deep conversation ritual

Once a month we host an experiment on human connection: what if we communicated differently? If you're interested in who people really are — not what they're supposed to say or do, but who they are deep inside, welcome home! - - - This month's experiment: Fuck work We talk a lot about work — perhaps too much. As if our dozens of hours a week were not enough, we end up talking a lot about work even when we're free. Who are we outside of work and how does that impact our work? I'm going to bring a hat full of hard-to-answer questions for us to explore. We'll answer them truthfully, buuuuut we'll also: 1. Purposefully avoid talking about what we do for a living 2. Try to guess what each person's profession/skills are And we'll all reveal when we leave, just so we don't end up talking about it! This is our first edition, so I'm still honing the format =) hope this first prompt is interesting! Please suggest me other experiences you have in mind. Invite as many people you want, Keith Bar was kind enough to offer us the back room, which is quite spacious. Cheers and see you there! - - - 19:30 Open doors 20:00 We start the experiment +- 22:00 Experiment officially over, but hey we're still around
