Do you feel like you should better protect your data and your privacy but feel helpless and don't know where to begin?

This is what we will help you with!

It's free. It's fun. It's for everyone - including YOU. No prior knowledge or preparation needed.

Just come with an open mind and leave with the realization that you can do something to improve the situation.

Privacy is the safe space where you can be yourself and where you can form your own opinions.

To do this as an individual you need unrestricted/uncensored access to information.

To do it as a group you need safe ways of communication and ways to establish trust with those you choose to interact with.

If you already know a thing or two about protecting your privacy and information on the internet you are always welcome to share your knowledge with others and/or learn something new yourself. If you don't know anything at all about these topics you are certainly in the right spot as well.

We specifically aim at a not-so-technical audience from all backgrounds. This is not about turning you into a security expert in one evening but to improve your understanding of how the internet works and how you can protect your privacy one step at a time.

Bring all the device(s) you use and/or are concerned about and maybe a USB drive if you have a spare one. This way we can directly try out the things we learn together.

We also stick to a simple code of conduct in order to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.

There is no such thing as a stupid question and the basic ones are the most important ones.
If you feel uncomfortable asking a question or don't understand the answer it's our fault and you should let us know.

We want to empower you to protect yourself.
So we work together, but the only person who touches your device or keyboard is you.

We do not tolerate any form of hostile, condescending or exclusive behaviour and will act accordingly.
Everyone is welcome, regardless of origin, gender, appearance, opinion, belief or ability. Just be nice and helpful to each other.

There is a multitude of ways to improve your privacy and security online. We want to focus on the most effective ones and keep it simple at the same time. Apart from a few central topics we want to involve you in the discussion about things you need/want to learn.

Common topics in this area are:

- Understanding the internet, its business models, the risks and possibilities

- Safer browsing through choosing the right browser, installing add-ons or using the TOR network

- Passwords, password managers and authentication methods

- Secured communication with encrypted messengers or e-mail

- Alternative operating systems (e.g. Linux on a USB drive)

- File encryption

Some useful resources / Einige nützliche Resourcen:
