Cast Drawing by Andy Nabong

VATA

This class will run eight Sunday mornings from 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM from 8 September to 27 October. Cast drawing is a classical approach to teach the individual on how to see and understand form. With a drawing cast you have a colorless still standing model which makes it much easier to observe the interaction of form and light. This helps the artist to develop a strong sense for communicating form changes through tonal changes in a drawing. We will investigate the essentials of how to approach an initial linear drawing, or “block-in” focusing on the various methods that we can employ as we attempt for accuracy in shape, proportion and gesture. We will then move straight in to modeling form three-dimensionally, as we discuss the fundamentals and distinctions of how light works as well as how to describe it on a two-dimensional surface. During this process, artists will learn to think sculpturally in their drawings by utilizing a conceptual understanding of how light falls on their still cast. This will allow for a greater sense of depth and realism in their finished drawings. To know more about Andy Nabong, you can go to his website at: http://www.viennaatelier.at/ . This class is for beginners and advance artist. -- Fees for 4 weeks: 100 Euros -- Fees for 8 weeks : 180 Euros A 10% early-bird discount will be provided for those paying half the fee one month before the start of the course.
