Über uns
Blockchain is a buzzword since more than 10 years now and it became infamous for energy waste, ICO scams and price volatility that turn some into millionaires and others into poverty. However, this is a narrow picture of what blockchain technology can do. The narrative is always focused on what’s hot today, but few concentrate on the potential for sustainability in the future.
I believe that blockchain can be used for sustainability because it’s decentralized, transparent and global. In particular, we can use it to track the use of resources in real-time. A proof of stake blockchain would prevent the use of a large amount of energy. Nevertheless, there are a lot of open questions.
In order to brainstorm and reflect on some ideas, we have this exploration project on Meetup in English for people with different backgrounds and different strengths, both students and professionals. If you are curious about sustainability and would like to contribute, then we have something in common. If you don’t know anything about blockchains, don’t worry, it’s not required. I will coordinate the meetup as much as I can and we will start with a round of introductions. Please be open minded and respectful towards others.
This is a private initiative because I’m genuinely interested in a sustainable future for my kids and I believe that the way that we deal with climate change have some fundamental flaws. Politics, for example, typically makes decisions on a nation-by-nation basis, whereas climate change is global.
