At approximately 11:50 am we take the next best train from Vienna to Wiener Neustadt Hauptbahnhof. The train ticket costs about 15 €.
If you want to join from somewhere else feel free to do so, but please inform me in advance.
From there our bike tour starts:
To cycle from Wiener Neustadt Hauptbahnhof to the Kraftwerk Freudenau via the Thermenradweg / Triestingau Radweg, we begin our journey at Wiener Neustadt Hauptbahnhof. We make sure our bicycles are ready and we have all necessary supplies for the trip. We head towards the Thermenradweg, which is well-marked and offers a scenic route through the region. This path will take us through beautiful landscapes and is relatively flat, making it ideal for a faster pace. We plan our first break after approximately 20-25 kilometers. There are several rest areas along the Thermenradweg where we can stop, hydrate, and have a snack. We continue our journey by transitioning onto the Triestingau Radweg. This path will guide us through picturesque areas and is also well-maintained, allowing for a swift ride. We schedule our second break after another 20-25 kilometers. Again, we look for designated rest spots where we can relax and prepare for the final leg of our trip. After our second break, we continue cycling towards the Kraftwerk Freudenau. The route will eventually lead us to the banks of the Danube River. We arrive at the Kraftwerk Freudenau. We take some time to enjoy the view and reflect on our journey.
Distance: 60 km
Elevation gain: 180 m
Max altitude: 270 m
Tempo: Do you feel confident to cycle the 60 km with at least an average pace of 20 km/h? If you are not able to keep up, we wait once, maybe twice, but on the third time you will get dropped. You have been warned.
Note: The route is almost 100% paved. A road bike would be the best choice.
