Education was the biggest influence on my religious views. While in college, I began to question the basic tennents of the faith I was raised in and ultimately found the answers I was given were lacking in substance. Coming out as a gay man also had an impact as it became clear that as a result of my being gay I was no longer welcome in my former faith community. While I would agree that there are some good things that can come out of religion, over all it's destructive and divisive. The more I read the more I realize there's little to support most people's religious beliefs.
I hope to make friends with like minded people. I would also like help in dealing with the after effects of leaving faith behind.
I feel I can offer another voice. I also think I could be of help to those who have recently left their faith.
My name is Matthew, I'm 36 and have lived in the Denver area for most of my life.
