What factors influenced you to emerge as a non-believer in a believing society?

I have never been a believer; I was raised in a secular home. Lately, in the past few years, perhaps as a result of the social media boom, more and more people are emerging (coming out, if you will) as non-believers; so, for me, I guess there's comfort in numbers.

What do you hope to get out of this group?

Community, exchange of ideas, learning, and maybe some new friends... and maybe much more that I just don't know about yet.

What do you feel you can offer the group?

Just more opportunities for discourse and learning from those around us. I have a heightened sense of fairness and justice, and I can play a pretty good devil's advocate.

I am a secular humanist and an atheist... always have been. I am an ethnic Jew who came here from Poland as a child. My immediate and extended family join in celebrations of our culture; for us it is all intended for family unity and sharing love.
