New Meetup: Chavez Loop

Announcing a new Meetup for THE DENVER TRAIL HEADS!

What: Chavez Loop

When: Thursday, October 21,[masked]:30 PM

Where: (A location has not been chosen yet.)

We'll start at the Genessee side of Beaver Brook and hike to the start of the Chavez nature trail and do the loop. This is only about 3 miles so we'll also add a mile or so on the Beaver Brook trail before we start the nature loop. That should get us about 4 miles total with a decent amount of elevation gain. Beginners are welcome on this hike since we have short mileage and curfew in DMP's doesn't start until 11PM. We probably will be hiking after sunset so please be prepared for nighttime hiking.

Directions to traihead: Take I-70 to Exit 253 (Chief Hosa Exit), if you take the exit from I-70 W you'll see a dirt road (Stapleton Rd) on your right take that road and it takes you about 1.7 miles to the trailhead. Here is the google maps link: Genessee Park

Now for the fun boilerplate stuff:

Bring a headlamp or other light source in case we are out after dark

Dogs are allowed with well behaved owners. If you bring a dog they must be on leash and cleaned up after.

Donation $1 ($0 if unemployed).

Please note: I am not a professional hiking guide. Hiking can be a risky activity and while I do my best to give reasonable information on neccessary equipment you are responsible for your own safety. Make sure to have a CORSAR card and medical insurance when hiking with the group.
