Title: Fundamentals and innovations in CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing
CRISPR-Cas9 has quickly become one of the most exciting techniques to use for genome engineering. Using this naturally occurring bacterial adaptive immunity system, researchers can now efficiently and easily create targeted, double-strand DNA breaks and subsequent gene editing events. This has opened the door to a wide array of research applications and potential disease fighting approaches. The research community is currently in the early stages of discovery with regards to the wide impact CRISPR-Cas9 may have on gene modulation research.
When considering gene editing experiments there are a variety of choices in terms of reagent selection. We will discuss options for Cas9 and guide RNA sources and formats, as well as the many workflows that can help you understand the best path forward with genome engineering that apply to both NHEJ (Non-homologous End Joining) and HDR (Homology-directed Repair).
