Longs Peak Ascent – Free National Park Weekend

From: Matt
Sent on: Friday, August 13, 2010 9:14 AM
I?ve set a goal to do 10 14ers by the end of this year and Longs Peak will only be number 5. Longs Peak is the 15th highest 14er in Colorado at 14,255 feet. All National Parks are FREE this weekend so I figured I?d climb Longs Peak. I have never done Longs Peak so it would be great if anyone that has done Longs Peak would like to come along. I?m planning on taking the Keyhole Route (Standard Route) which is 14 miles and considered to be a class 3 with 5,100 feet of elevation gain. For anyone interested, you MUST be a strong hiker because this is a long and somewhat difficult hike with considerable exposure. Make sure you bring the essential gear. This should NOT be your first 14er!

Here is a link to this event:

I?m planning on leaving from the Nine Mile Park-N-Ride at 3:00AM so I can get a start early and make it home for the Broncos first preseason game. I can meet up with anyone along the way.

If anyone has suggestions or recommendations, please let me know since I?ve never done Longs Peak.

So if you have the experience and endurance, please contact me and we?ll get this 14er knock out?

STAY CraZy, my friends!
