Let's meet up for an early evening literary arts celebration at Midtown's legendary Old Miami as Wayne State University Press, Detroit's oldest nonprofit publisher, holds its annual Made in Michigan Writers Series Celebration at the Old Miami on Friday, May 17.
The city’s best backyard will be transformed into a lit lover’s paradise as the Press fills it with books from its acclaimed Made in Michigan Writers Series, the only state imprint devoted to creative fiction and poetry.
Rub elbows with the Press’s most accomplished Michigan authors while you sip (or slug) libations from the bar and munch (or scarf) tasty grilled bites. Then let the funky lit-fusion of M. L. Liebler & The Coyote Monk Poetry Band drag you to the dance floor. Oh yeah, and maybe buy a book or two... we know you’ll want to. On your way out, don’t forget to sneak a peek at the art-ed up Made in Michigan Writers Bus (provided by the Detroit Bus Company), making its maiden tour across the state the following day.
Young or old, Wayne alum or aspiring poet, there’s no better way to celebrate Lit in the Mitt!
