Dan Ortiz for Obama DNC Delegate in CD 52.

Hello DFAers, it's great to see so much activism
around here.
I was just looking at my profile on the meetup page,
and I joined this group August 6, 2003!!!
Has it really been that long?.... Amazing.
I worked for Howard Dean in Iowa as part of the Iowa
I also ran as a Dean delegate 4 years ago, and
remember loosing to Dalya Vaughn. We didn't get the
15% that year anyhow.

I went to Iowa this January just for caucus day, and
you will be happy to know that most of our Dean
organizers in Iowa are active, and moving up the
ladder. I stayed with Nader Halawa who was our Iowa
Storm Lead, he is now political director for Tom
Harkin and also consults, also an Obama supporter. We
met with Frannie Starkey, old Iowa Storm as well, who
was running field for Obama this time. Her and Ken
Sanguin are going to get married this summer.

In any case, I see the Obama campaign as an evolution
of what Howard Dean started, like a natural
progression and a best practices approach, and that is
why I am supporting him.

I plan on going to PA for a few days, I have some
friend in NC that are going to host me in May, and if
I get a place to stay, Puerto Rico would be a good
place to use my Spanish.
I have to fly on American Airlines, so alot depends on
whether they keep canceling flights and how full those
flights are.

Just like Howard Dean told us, I ran for a local
office, and I am now an elected Delegate to the Ca Dem
Party for
Assembly District 77.
I am also an alternate to the county central
committee, and soon to be elected county central
committee member for my district.

I ran in January 2007 and supported both the union
and the progressive slate.
I am the former Vice President of UAW 4123, the union
that organizes Academic Student Employees at the CSU
Our local is 6,000 strong statewide.
I currently serve on the Region 5 UAW CAP council.
I also currently serve on the platform committee of
the Ca Dem Party,
and chaired the Energy and Environment plank for the
platform committee.
I was also part of the Immigration plank of the CDP.
This year's CDP platform is one of the most
progressive platforms ever!!

I am running as an Obama pledged DNC delegate for the
52nd CD and I am asking for your support and the help
of your friends that
live in the 52nd CD.

Go here to find out what congressional district you
are in.

Here is a map of the San Diego County congressional

If you plan on going, you can save time by signing up
on the CDP website using the box on the top right of
this page. The box has a donkey and it reads:
