Big Texas oil companies – led by Valero and Tesoro—have already spent $8 million dollars to kill California’s Climate Change Law via Proposition 23.

If the Dirty Energy Proposition passes, the world's 8th largest economy will flip instantly from “leader” to “last place” in innovation, investment and job creation. This dangerous proposition will destroy California’s burgeoning clean energy industries and keep us addicted to dirty fossil fuels.

Right here in the Easy Bay, the Ella Baker Center is spearheading Communities Against Prop 23, a huge coalition of community-based organizations and businesses from all over California organizing to defeat Proposition 23. This coalition is a harbinger of great things to come from the California progressive grassroots, which is why we're excited to have Ian Kim, Director of the Ella Baker Center's Green-Collar Jobs Campaign and leader of the No on 23 effort as our featured speaker.

Proposition 23 will hurt low-income communities and people of color first and worst. It will make air pollution worse and jobs more scarce, especially in communities already burdened by too much pollution and poverty. It will kill clean energy alternatives and keep us addicted to oil; low-income families will be hit hardest by the rising cost of fossil fuels.

California's low income communities and people of color are fighting back via Communities Against Prop 23. Statewide GOTV work will target low income communities and young voters.

PLUS: Right across the Bay in San Francisco, the national online advocacy group CREDO is opening five volunteer offices statewide in the fight against Prop 23 which they think is one of the most important fights this fall, not just in California but in the country. Becky Bond, Political Director at CREDO will speak about the collaboration behind this campaign as well as the larger political landscape facing California in November.

This is the beginning of something big, you won't want to miss it!
