About Danielle Glick
Danielle has 15 years of experience in interface design with some experience in photography, videography, and copywriting. While she was working for a Dallas advertising agency as a User Experience Designer, Danielle became a member of the team that was asked to create the very first social media marketing efforts for a few nationwide brands in the baked goods industry. However, no one in the company was a social media expert, so Danielle took a hands-on approach– she invented her own brand!
Danielle used her interest in the Dallas food scene and branded herself on Twitter as @Dallas_Foodie (https://twitter.com/Dallas_Foodie), and later created the related fan page, Facebook.com/DallasFoodie (https://www.facebook.com/DallasFoodie). From these accounts Danielle experimented and learned how to build a social media marketing network from scratch, and she saw a lot of missed opportunities for businesses not using social media.
Now, Danielle has her own small business, DGdesign (https://DGdesign.biz), which specializes in helping other small business owners in Dallas maximize their marketing budget through social media. Take a look at Danielle’s research and strategy-based approach to social media marketing at https://DGdesign.biz and on Twitter @SocialMediaDFW (https://twitter.com/SocialMediaDFW).
Why You Should Come
This Meetup will be a hands-on learning experience to discuss the often-overlooked, yet rapidly growing channels of social media: the locally-targeted stuff. This includes mobile location-based services with search, check-ins or reviews, local-based web sites, and social coupons. We’ll go over why you should care about each of these emerging social media channels and how you can capitalize on them right now, before everyone else realizes the opportunities they're missing out on!
Hands-on To-Do List: each of the channels listed below has an associated free mobile app that we will be using! Please fee free to download them to your iPhone, iPod, iPad, or Android device. If you don't have a mobile device, that's ok, you will still learn. We will help you decide what may work for you in your business.
Some of the channels we will be discussing we be:
Google Places (app is Google Maps)
QR codes (app to get is i-nigma)
6:30 - 7:30 Registration and Networking (great time to place your dinner order)
7:30 - 8:30 Presentation by Danielle Glick (see above)
8:30 - 9:00 Q & A and more networking
Hope to see everyone there. There is also a group that usually heads to the bar after to do some more networking and socializing. Feel free to join us and have some fun.
