Learn to Tango! Free class and social dance.
7:30-8:30 pm Free beginning Argentine tango dance lessons with Ramzi Mardam Bey and Sarah Bystrom. They are all elegant dancers and excellent instructors from the Vanderbilt Tango Club. An advanced/intermediate class taught by Mary Yang will take place at the same time. No partner or experience necessary. Afterward, try out what you have learned on the dance floor for the next 2 hours. 8:30-10:30 pm Nashville's Alternative Milonga with music by Marshall Capps. What is an Alternative Milonga? It is a tango social dance event where neotango, nuevo tango and contemporary tango music is played as well as some music not usually associated with tango. Argentine tango is a vibrant and playful dance between two people. It has a rich potential for expression, improvisation and connection and is danced in both modern and traditional styles. It is often described as a passionate dance, because of the close connection partners can have, the character of the music, and also relating to some of the dance's history. For more information: Tonya Miller,[masked], [masked] Note: After 9pm, Play Dance Bar sometimes cards people at the door so bring ID. Let them know you there to attend the free the tango event.
