Free beer will be provided (and it won't be crap). This week, we'll be talking about Ripple, a digital currency with a market cap of $815M (#2 behind Bitcoin).
Ripple is a technology similar to Bitcoin, but with notable improvements. The underlying network allows for exchanges between fiat currencies, crypto-currencies, and digital items. A leading use-case for Ripple is to be an intermediary for cross-currency transactions (e.g., forex), which is a critical use-case for nearly all current and future Bitcoin (or similar) startups. The Ripple network requires a currency called Ripple (XRP) to use (as an anti-spam measure), and XRP can and is traded.
