ABOUT DIVE ANIMALS >

The Dive Animals Scuba Club (DASC) is the only club to own and operate its own boat, a 19 foot Wellcraft.  It is available to all members of Dive Animals for dive trips to the local wrecks and kelp beds.  We also enjoy regular organized dive trips locally, regionally and internationally.

Membership in the club is $45 per year and all members receive a fill card from either Sport Chalet, House of Scuba, or Rick’s Diving Locker (so you are at break-even as of the first day!).  Members must have active DAN insurance to access the club boat.

NON-MEMBERS may RSVP directly to Ian Lazarus at [masked].  Watch this site for picnic and membership updates.

I've got an inquiry into Leisure Pro for you. Stand by...

      May 29, 2013

  • Ian

We gave out a couple Leisure Pro gift cards at the picnic and I need to give you lucky souls the information to claim your prize. Can you please step forward so I can scratch this off my list?

you mean that there's a prize that you didn't get ???

      May 28, 2013

    • Ian

Ouch! I did throw back in the last 2 prizes I won which included a dive computer worth more than everything I won combined! But yes, it was a little embarrassing. That's what you get when you buy alot of tickets and I was just following Remi's lead.

And a very special thanks to Ian for all his hard work that made this picnic such a great event-Thanks Ian!!

Thanks to everyone that made this a terrific event: Gayle who ran membership and the raffle, Janet who chased down prizes from merchants, Derrick who brought the bomb grill, Kelly who made the major runs to Costco, Boat operators who satisfied our divers, local shops and national manufacturers that donated great prizes, and ALL members who joined, enjoyed and helped out as needed. See you on the boat!

    • Remi Le R.

And a BIG thank to you Ian for the great organization and getting so many prizes from the dive shops and companies (even though I did not win anything!). Definitely a great picnic!

Also, if you've not offered to help, do so now! More food is always welcome.

Hey Dive Animals. I've posted some general information on the picnic and club on this page that you can share with non-members. We are in the process of evaluating a simpler membership approach, but to allow non-members to at least join the picnic - and to help us anticipate attendance - they can email me direct. PLEASE SEND THIS LINK TO 2 NONMEMBERS YOU WISH TO RECRUIT TO THE CLUB. Note various sharing options above. Tanks!

I will bring a large fold-out table. It's one of these standard off-white plastic top thingies, not sure about the dimensions.

I have two 10x10 canopy's and two tables and a few chairs.

    March 24, 2013

    • Ian

      March 27, 2013

  • Ian

On the subject of selling items at the picnic, I am in the process of doing research but my initial response is...don't count on it. Certain commercial activities are not allowed on public property, such as Ski Beach. The club could be cited.

Add to the list of needed supplies:

    8. One or more handcarts to move heavy items

    March 27, 2013

  • Ian

Supplies needed from Dive Animals members for picnic:

    1. BBQ and related equipment
    2. Chairs
    3. Tables
    4. Food (DA will reimburse: specify what you can bring)
    5. Drinks (see #4)
    6. Future DA members
    7. Sense of humor

Please indicate in comments what we can expect you to bring. WARNING: This will be the best DA function ever. Don't risk suffering the guilt of not inviting your non-DA dive buddies.

Hey Divers! This is my first time organizing (although I purchased my share of kegs in college), so please let me know if there are details needing my attention. Bill has given me some clues. We will need lawn chairs, tables, perhaps a sunshade, and other things you would find at a bomb party on the beach. If you have something you can lend to this effort, please post it here so we can track inventories leading to the event. Thanks!
