Nihongo Tadoku : Extensive reading in Japanese (For beginners)

Have you ever heard of Tadoku?
It’s a fun way to learn Japanese through extensive reading. Instead of memorizing from a textbook, you read easy and short books at your own pace.
📚 The rules are simple:

• Don’t use a dictionary
• If it feels too difficult or stressful, stop reading
• If the book isn’t interesting, switch to another one

In this meetup, we’ll:

1. Start with a quick self-introduction
2. Read simple Japanese books together in a small group (about 5 people)
3. Wrap up with a short closing and greetings

By reading this way, new words and phrases naturally sink in, and you’ll begin to feel how Japanese works. Over time, you’ll find yourself understanding and using Japanese more smoothly.

If you can read hiragana and katakana, you’re welcome to join!

We’ll have books from Level 0 to Level 2 ready for you. If you have a Japanese book you’d like to read, you’re more than welcome to bring it.

We’re meeting in a cozy rental room just next to Chigasaki Station. Afterward, you can take a walk by the ocean or check out some of the great cafés and restaurants around Chigasaki.

Participation fee: ¥500 (to be collected in cash on the day)
