Beginning Tango!

Tango is so much more than some moves or steps. Tango is connection ... connection with your partner, connection with the music, connection with the floor itself, connection with the other dancers on the floor.

In this rather sterile world we live in (where an accidental touch often results in an apology), Tango connects us.

If you don't have a partner, don't worry. We rotate partners in class with every song. Couples who don't want to rotate in class are never required to.

TUESDAYS, Beginning Tango - 6:30-7:30 pm -- In our beginning class on Tuesday nights, you learn the fundamentals of Argentine Tango: the basic elements of the tango walk (caminada) and introduction of basic steps (such as the cruzada and ochos), emphasizing posture, leading and following skills, and interpreting the music.

Join us ... get connected ... learn to tango ... and have some fun! Cost is $50 per person or $90 per couple for 4 weeks of classes (includes up to 2 classes per week, beginning and intermediate). The series begins on the first Tuesday of each month and runs for four weeks. Click here to register online.

All classes & events held at Tango by the River, 128 J Street, in Old Sacramento. [masked]-7008.

Click here to sign up now and ensure your space in class! Argentine tango is a beautiful, passionate dance, and it is our pleasure to share with you a dance we love so much. Join us!

Here is part of a demo that we danced for one of the Beginning Tango classes in June, 2015. Please note that the song we were actually dancing to was "Fallin" by Alicia Keys, but Youtube blocked that, so we removed that song and dubbed in a traditional tango song "Champagne Tango" by Carlos DiSarli. The timing is very, very similar, which is proof that you can dance tango to almost any music:
