Take a break from the daily grind to mingle with old friends and make some new ones.

Random Acts of Kindness is hosting a Fundraising Happy Hour to benefit the International Rescue Committee - Dallas.

IRC is a global leader in emergency relief, protection of human rights, resettlement services and advocacy for those uprooted or affected by violent conflict and oppression throughout the world. The IRC Dallas Regional Offices helps refugees build new lives in the Dallas, Fort Worth and Abilene areas. IRC Dallas is one of the largest resettlement agencies in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and during an average year assists more than 500 refugees and asylees. Refugees arrive from countries including Afghanistan, Bhutan, Burma, Burundi, Congo, Cuba, Iraq, Iran and Sudan. They have assisted refugees with obtaining housing, English language training, health care, and employment. Working together they achieve their overall goal of refugee and asylee self-sufficiency within a few short months of arrival.

In the process of building a new life the IRC helps refugees and asylees make a smooth transition to life in the United States. The IRC encourages them to become contributing members of the community and to build a foundation for self?sufficiency. They are truly making a difference, one life at a time!

The happy hour event will be at The Wine Therapist which is located at the northeast corner of Skillman and Live Oak next to The Tipperary Inn. The Therapist is an ?urban wine oasis? where you can enjoy good wine and good friends while getting away from the rigors of daily life in the urban jungle. Walk into the Wine Therapist and enjoy an adventure in wines from around the world. Whether you want ?Vino to Go? or have a glass of wine and relax, the Wine Therapist offers an urban wine education experience. At the Wine Therapist, wine is a lifestyle which emphasizes healthy living and the exploration of new flavors in a Napa-style tasting room environment.

Enjoy complimentary artisinal Cheese and sausage. Glasses of wine start at $6 while you can buy a bottle starting in the mid-teens. They are also offering bottles of wine purchased to go at a 50% discount. Beer, coffee and tea is also available.

Melani Skybell will be playing at 7:30 until past 11. She is a wonderful singer/keyboardist who plays traditional jazz in a style all her own.

Our event starts at 6 and I'm sure we'll be there until 9ish. Probably later!

Suggested donation is $10. All of the proceeds will go directly to The IRC.

We will be joined by DFW Singles, Dining in Dallas, Dallas Live Music, North Texas Wine Enthusiasts, and Party With A Purpose Meetups.

Let's meet up and enjoy a nice drink, conversation, and a great company. Most of all, let's show our love and support for this worthwhile cause.

I'm looking forward to seeing you all there!
