NO-DM DECEMBER: MICROSCOPE
Details
Join us for No-DM December as we play Microscope on Saturday, December 13th from 12:00 to 4:00. This innovative tabletop RPG turns traditional storytelling on its head by letting you explore epic histories spanning hundreds or thousands of years, all in a single afternoon.
Microscope is a GM-less, collaborative worldbuilding game where players work together to create the entire timeline of a civilization, empire, or world. The twist? You won't play through the history chronologically. Instead, you'll start by defining the grand beginning and ending of your timeline, then jump freely backward and forward through time to explore the moments that interest you most. Want to leap a thousand years into the future to see how a political movement shaped society? Want to jump back to the childhood of a king you just saw assassinated to discover what made him such a hated ruler? That's perfectly normal in Microscope.
The game is often described as fractal roleplaying because you can zoom out to watch the majestic tide of history wash across empires, then zoom in to play intimate scenes with individual characters who lived through those events. You have vast creative power to build beautiful civilizations and peaceful eras, or to destroy them with war, plague, or nuclear fire. There are no dice and no complicated rules to learn, just a clear framework for collaborative storytelling using index cards to track your emerging history.
Bring your creativity and prepare to explore history like never before!
