SUNDAY OCTOBER 6TH. THE TWO WEATHER FORECASTS I SAW SAID BETWEEN 30 AND 70 PERCENT CHANCE OF RAIN THIS AFTERNOON. THE TEMPERATURES HOWEVER WILL BE IN THE 70'S. MY THOUGHTS ARE IF IT IS CLEAR (LIKE LAST WEEK WHERE IT THREATENED, BUT NEVER RAINED) WE DRUM AT EDGEWATER. THEN IF IT IS A SLIGHT RAIN WE CAN GO UNDER THE PAVILION. HOWEVER IF THERE IS A GOOD STEADY RAIN (LIKE YESTERDAY), WE WILL MOVE TO ST. COLMAN (ON WEST 65TH BETWEEN LORAIN AND MADISON. PLAN ON BEING FLEXIBLE, I WILL TRY AND UPDATE THE SITE AS WE GET CLOSER TO 3P.M. THANKS FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING.
Lower part of Edgewater State Park near the pavilion and the beach.
This is an open, free-form circle, usually without facilitation. A drummer usually starts a beat and others join in, as they wish. Many people join in from the park and we bring extra drums and percussion. We try to keep it simple, at first, so beginners feel comfortable. Intermediate, advanced and professional drummers will take leads and solos, once the rhythms are in synch.
Participants come and go during the two to four hours during the circle. Beside drummers, we occasionally have wind instruments, guitars, dancers, hoop and fire chain dancers join us. Many people just come to watch, listen and enjoy the park. There are many other activities at the park and beach including: swimming, sun bathing, kite flying, soccer, bike riding/rentals, walking, jogging, fishing at the pier and breakwalls, picnics, group meetings and cookouts.
If the weather is nice, we will drum on the grass northwest of the pavilion (between the pavilion and the lake). The drum circle area is near the bike and walking path.
If rain, we play in the southwest section of the pavilion, west of the large lower parking lot. Last year almost every Sunday was great!!! Just look for or listen for the drums and drummers!
