Tired of the city? Want to see how close the countryside is to Dublin?
This route starts in the sleepy suburbs of Rathmines and Rathgar, with bike-friendy route all the way to Templeogue. After Templeogue we'll be turning onto the Dodder Valley bike path which is entirely traffic free (one or two kissing gates), before leaving the path at Firhouse for off-road bikepaths.
We can continue straight to Bohernabreena from here, or take a short (< 5 minutes) detour which brings us back to a new traffic-free route all the way to the main gates! :o)
You can see the intended route here:
From the suggested point of Rathmines it's an easy 30km return trip, there is no hill climbing involved!
There is also the possibility to meet us at the half-way point in the car-park of "The Mill" in Tallaght. It's a huge car park with bags of space, especially at the weekend!
I've set the start time of 11:00am for those who want to have a lie in, but we'll also be finished well before 2:00pm (including rests/photos) for those who have other things to do on Saturdays.
