Okay. So you took a beginning ukulele class and now you're itching for more. You know a handful of chords, a couple of strums, a smidgen of theory and, if you feel like it, you can sing and strum at the same time. In this class, you'll learn some new songs, some new strums, and some more helpful theory. Please bring your uke, a music stand, and a tuner. GCEA ukes: low or high G is fine. Baritones are welcome, too (please let the teacher know in advance).
Learn more sophisticated fingerpicking patterns including bass runs, hammer-ons and pull-offs, as well as Latin rhythms. Further your arranging skills with more advanced melodies and chord progressions. For intermediate guitar players, or those who have taken Beginning Fingerstyle Guitar, who have some experience fingerpicking and can play barre chords. A bound copy of professionally engraved music in both staff and TAB notation is included with the class, as well as access to mp3 examples of class materials. Please bring a music stand if you have one.
Play guitar with others in a friendly and supportive environment. Learn the melody, rhythm, and bass parts of songs from folk, rock, soul, jazz, Latin, and other genres. Arrangements include playable parts for every player. Play a part according to your skill level and interest. Apply, in a group setting, the skills that you’ve learned in other classes or on your own. You’ll be amazed when the group plays together and sounds like a complete band! For advanced beginners and stronger players who can play barre chords. Familiarity with TAB or musical notation helpful, but not required. Clearly printed handouts and mp3 tracks available to help you learn. Please bring a music stand and tuner if you have them. Drop-ins welcome. Visit modernclassicsguitar.com for more about this ongoing class.
Celebrate the season with two-part versions of winter and holiday songs. Learn different parts of the same songs and play them together as an ensemble, all while exploring singing, strumming, and picking ukulele! Parts available for advanced beginners and up; students should be comfortable strumming while changing chords smoothly. Please bring your uke tuned GCEA, a music stand, and a tuner. Low G string recommended, though not required. Baritones are welcome (please notify teacher in advance). We'll showcase what we've learned at a class party!
