Join us for a 3 to 4 mile hike in Upton State Forest. We'll take some of the easier trails down to Dean Pond and back with a couple of side loops thrown in. Although some of these trails are "easier" there are sections of bank gravel and some rocky places, which puts this hike in the intermediate range. If it has rained recently you can expect some good mud and even water in places.
Ticks have become a serious problem. Everyone should bring tick repellent or Permethrin treated clothes. Everyone should bring water. Those who are new to hiking barefoot and those who are unsure of their ability should bring backup sh@@s in case the going gets too tough. All are welcome and instruction will be provided. There is a porta-potty in the parking lot.
Meet in the parking lot in front of the main CCC building. As you pull into the driveway from Southboro Rd be sure to take the right most fork which leads up hill to the CCC buildings. Driveway is at the intersection of Westboro Rd and Southboro Rd. Look for barefoot people.
