I first heard about Union when I took a food tour of Ossington and visited Côte de Boeuf, a vintage-Parisian-inspired butcher shop featuring top quality beef, pantry staples, and charcuterie. The cheese we sampled was heavenly. It turns out the two brothers who run the butcher shop also run Union down the street, with the same focus on quality and the farm-to-table philosophy I absolutely love. They focus on the local, seasonal, organic, and fresh, and are involved in much of the procurement process themselves.
On Tuesdays they have a sharing plate menu ($12) so we can sample many things without breaking the bank! I wish every restaurant offered this option. They also have a few regular sized entrees if you want to dive in and not look back! They have some main staples, but their menu changes daily based on what they get from their suppliers and the market. A quick glance at their posted Tuesday menu is making my mouth water: Golden and Red Beets with oregano, goat cheese mousse, and pistachio praline! Asparagus Risotto with buffalo milk cheese, mint, and chervil! Elk Sliders with bread and butter pickles, spicy aioli, mirin galangal, and challah!
